All the more reason for AGROB BUCHTAL to be proud considering that the Bavarian Department of Trade and Industry proposed as many as five ranges as recipients of this great honour. CONNECT, MAGMA, REFLEX, ROVERE and WALK are to be assessed by the independent 10-man jury which is appointed by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology and comprises competent representatives of the areas of industry, universities, design and media. This expert body selects up to 25 winners in the Product and Industrial Design category who are then announced in September of the same year. Once again proof of the sheer inexhaustible potential of ceramic tiles, it will therefore be interesting to see how the five candidates do.
The competition is organised by the German Design Council based in Frankfurt am Main. At the decision of the German Bundestag, this institution was established in 1953 in order to comply with the increasing requirements for information as regards design quality. This facility is meanwhile one of the world's leading competence centres for communication and know-how transfer in the area of design.

MAGMA interprets the natural basalt look of cold volcanic stone in a very distinguished manner. The fine-grain progression with subtle structural images is reminiscent of moving layers of sand and creates an elegant atmosphere exuding contemporary elegance. |
REFLEX is distinguished by an organic, fabric-like structure and refined matte-gloss impressions. Depending on light incidence, these lead to changing reflections which generate a luxurious ambience. |
ROVERE combines practical anti-slip features with an aesthetic look: the nuanced design conjures up associations with wood and plant fibres and conveys a measured balance which is ideal for pool surrounds or spa areas, for example. |
WALK is distinguished by a material-organic intimation of delicate thread structures in the style of weaving techniques. The four urban colour combinations give rise to unusual coverings which are unobtrusive but always featuring a certain something. |
